Hello dear ones! How have you been doing lately?

Time surely flies! That's what I always feel.
Which made me realize, I'm almost behind my target goals for this week (tsk tsk).

Trying to compose a new blog is quite a challenge for me these past few days. I'm always, always caught in the middle between (1) writing a good stuff and (2) reading more and more tips/strategies/info about blogging which left me nothing to write at all! Ironic, right?

That’s because I get so overwhelmed already *argghh* And to add to that, I have a "terrible" two-year-old daughter to keep an eye on (can anyone relate? haha ).

My instagram caption reads: "Simplify it." Blogging can be amazing yet overwhelming at the same time with all the tips, info, ideas here and there. Currently, I'm trying to organize, declutter and eliminate distractions to keep my focus. Hope this strategy works :)

1. Join Facebook Group for Bloggers

    This strategy will significantly

    By being a member, you

Well, I’ve been a member of other blogger groups before but not as active because I see no clear rules and organization with those that I followed.

So I'm loving my newly discovered FB groups. Top on the list is

    Blogger Insights
Eden Fried, the admin is very helpful and generous in imparting useful tools and articles. I also love that this group is very well organized.

Here are the other wonderful groups that I joined

      KEY TAKEAWAYS

Follow the rules: each group has different set of rules and some are even stricter. It is best for us to abide by those rules since we don't want to be kicked out, do we?

Be friendly: it always pays to be nice and friendly in a community of people so please always use a positive tone.

Reach out: if you know the answer to someone asking for help or if you could give a valuable insight, don't hesitate to do so. People will appreciate it and will remember you for that.

Don't touch and go: Once you join the thread, don’t just drop your content and leave without reciprocating the favor to people in that thread. That is a bad habit and eventually, it will backfire on you.

      2. Have a Facebook Group Weekly Planner

This strategy will significantly improve time management and productivity.

Since I have a lot of FB groups, I tend to mix up and forget my actions by going back and forth or scrolling down a long thread. This planner solves it all by keeping my to do’s organized and prioritized.

Let me show you the sample Facebook Group Weekly Planner from Love and Paper Flowers.

      Sample 1

This is how I do it.

Let's say on Monday (pls. refer to Sample 2), my priorities are blog post and re-pin for Lovely Bloggers and Blogging with Heart. The number inside the box indicates the number of times I need to return the favor.

      Sample 2

On my end, I post my “priority actions” to their designated group at around 7PM (Manila time) since the earliest group starts at 7AM (EST).I don't yet do post sharing or comment until there’s enough options for me to choose from. Then I tuck my baby to bed between 9PM and 9:30PM. After this time is my most productive in which I do the rest. It's really up to you on what time you’ll want to start.

Easy right?  By the way, you can download the free Facebook Group Weekly Planner here.

      3.  Practice Speed Writing

This strategy will improve your writing productivity.

As I mentioned before, I have a love-hate relationship with writing. I know it's not an excuse lol. I suffer from writer’s block most of the time and the struggle is real! I find it hard to come up with a good content.

So, I was challenged by this speed writing. What I did was just to write everything that comes to mind first. You know just to build the momentum. And believe me it works! While writing  this blog,  I’m really surprise that I was able to come up with 800+ words in less than an hour. I’m still gushing over it!

Let me share with you the first paragraph I wrote prior to this article. Well, this is just me talking to myself and I find it funny. This is my unedited (typo error included) statements.

Again,  my goal here is just to set the momentum...to keep it flowing.

      KEY TAKEAWAYS

      • Never judge yourself: The first draft will always be messy!  So what?  That's what edits are for.
      • Never write and edit at the same time: I’m guilty of this. I’m more of a reread-edit, reread-edit than write 😀.  Which isn’t effective because I'm losing my chain of thoughts in the process. So I finish the whole draft first then set aside a time to edit it. That way, I'll be more relaxed to spot the mistakes.
      • Eliminate distractions: Though it’s hard to stay focused, we can disconnect ourselves from external factors that slow us down (eg. turn off the TV, disconnect from social media, close the email, mute the phone) If we want to get it done quickly, writing requires our undivided attention.

There go my techniques for my “unproductive self " dear ones. How about you? How do you stay productive? I love to hear your thoughts.

        Hugs,
        Joan
